And yes the Big Dig is another example of hubris it seems.
I remember when I was living in LA they were starting to build the train system. (Never mind that your building an underground subway system in land that is mostly sand and in an earthquake heavy zone) and they had tunnels that when they met up were severely off in their measurements. Doh!
