Hi,

Another Bostonian here. Some pretty good suggestions from the other guys. The nice thing about being around here is that you can walk around Boston very easily. I wouldn't avoid anything as it can all be pretty strange. Just move right in.

Plenty of great restaurants around town. Oleana, Chez Henri and The Helmand in Cambridge. Via Matta, Jumbo Seafood, Atlantic Seafood in Boston. If you're looking for a great place to grab a sandwich in Boston, you cannot go wrong with the Parish Cafe on Boylston right by the Public Garden.

Good people watching town.

I'd avoid Faneuil Hall--unless you like feeling like a tourist. The North End has great Italian--Pagliuccas for good and cheap. Sage for good and pricier.

Cambridge/Harvard Square--an area I'm in pretty much every day--is a mixed bag of everything and anything. It's full of a lot of downsides--but all crossroads sorts of place in this country tend to be that way. Noir in the Charles Hotel is a good place to grab a beverage or ten. Check out Newbury Comics on JFK Street--great little cd store where you can find all kindsa great stuff--and it's dirt cheap.

The Gardner and The MFA are terrific. But if you only have a small tolerance for great art--the Fogg and Sackler Museums at Harvard (within a block of each other) are fantastic and see-able in a reasonable amount of time. Some of my favorite paintings are in the Fogg. World class art that most people don't even know is there.

If you're over by MIT in Kendall Square Cambridge, check out the new Frank Gehry building--called the Stata Center. A fun building if you like all form and no function.

More than my 2 cents, but have fun when you're here. It's nice here in the summer--the students are gone for one and there's parking. But really--don't drive here. It's not for the faint of heart. And look both ways twice when crossing the streets!
