Obviously your climate is more tropical than mine - the plants that have survived for you wouldn't grow here, but they sound bright and fragrant - well done. Our "garden" is over-run with kikuyu grass - good in the paddocks but hard to eradicate from garden beds. It's got to the point where we mow it...
I like the term "xeriscaper" - I'm much the same - everything has to thrive on neglect. I also love the sound of your butterflies. Karina's class teacher is quite knowledgeable about butterflies and their food plants and has hatched different varieties at school - wonderful!
