pests like aphids, mealy bugs, scales or white flies. I'll be asking for some clarifications since I can't examine them myself. How developed are the vines? Are they potted or in the earth? Do you water it consistantly or has it gone parched from time to time? And are there more than one? I'm up early and thought I'd do a little research. What kind of pupa, moth or butterfly species, do you know?
It soulds as if the leaves are dying before the pupa emerge.
just some cursory questions.
PS Some Safer Soap spray could fix the sugar producers.
