Knew it would only be a matter of time before there was a scathing comment about the Eagles from you, Gene! Too bad, I've bought the tickets and the concert has sold out... Now I have to wait nearly 6 months till the show!
You truly are spoiled with where you live and your access to great live music. As you know, we live 450 km from Perth (which is the most isolated and ignored city in Australia). We are lucky to get anyone of note or interest to visit, and then there are no decent venues. It's either outdoor ampitheatres or stadiums (football and cricket grounds). The government is currently constructing a very expensive convention centre (in the shape of a eucalpyt leaf if you can imagine it...) - maybe that will help?
As for Albany (our nearest big smoke), it has city status (i.e. a population exceeding 25 000 in it's surrounds), but only an ancient town hall (red velvet seats - get the idea?) or the gymnasium at the leisure and aquatic centre - great acoustics, I don't think... Otherwise you can go to a smoky nightclub where the average age is 18 and the performance doesn't start till 11 p.m.
I am so envious...
