Reg,
I tell you I ain't really into live albums all that much. Most recent live records that recieved heavy rotation on my CD player(s) are the following:
Manu Chao-"Radio Bemba Sound System". A non stop assualt from Mr. Chao and his crew. Very high energy sounds from the "21st century Bob Marley". DVD is a blast as well. Would love to catch this guy perform live, once in my lifetime.
Neil Finn & Friends-"7 Worlds Collide". Mr. Finn invites members of Radiohead, Pearl Jam, The Smiths, etc. to join him way down under for a weekend of historic shows. It would have been nothing short of heaven to have been there. Those "Kiwis" are so damn lucky!
Patty Griffin- "A Kiss In Time". If you don't know Patty's stuff, this is a great starter. It's heavy on the tracks from "Flamming Red"(My favorite Patty record-well, this week anyway!) Her live version of "Goodbye" just gives me goosebumps, everytime I hear it.
If I had to pick a few records from my past, it would have to be the "No Nukes" concert recording, "Kiss Alive 2", A bootleg recording of Echo & The Bunnymen, live in London, circa early 80's and that U2 live EP that came out after "The Unforgetable Fire"(For the life of me, I can't remember the title and I'm to lazy to look it up. I only own it on vinyl and my record collection is in storage).
That's all Reg! I own many live CD's and LP's, but again, nothing really stands out for me. The DVD of the first two I listed are pretty entertaining, but I caution, you might have to be a fan of the artist(s) music before you purchase.
Cheers, Kevin from AZ, aka Mr. Music Snob
