But I do/did respect "The Dead" when Jerry was still alive. I only saw them perform live, once. Phish seems to me like a water downed , comtemporary version of the classic Dead sound, though I have never heard or seen one of their live shows.

Now onto the new breed, I somewhat like Dave Matthews Band, but artists like Jack Johnson, please! Will someone tell me how an average singer/songwriter/guitarist sells millions of records, while an artist like, John Prine barely shifts 50,000.
