How is it that stuff that sounded so RICH and full back then sounds so weak now? I had a girlfriend with a DX-7 and I recall watering at the mouth when I heard it. Now that kind of thing just sounds brassy.
Other fun Trends of the 80's:
The Boss 808 Drum Machine. Still quite popular in certain circles.
Roland JX3P. A friend at school had one and it had all these cheesy sound effects like Jet Planes taking off and Helicopters and such.
Vibrant Colors of Kramer Guitars. Also, Charvelle/Jackson Guitars with airbrush paint jobs...like girls with bikinis...or faux snake skin. Whoohoo! Nothing says, "Big 80's" like a Jackson Guitar with a airbrushed "Nagle" that your buddy from school reproduced in night school art class.
Digital Chorus!
