Re: Did 80's music blow more than 70's music?

Hey I might be in the minority here but I thought the 70's was a great decade for music. I don't really see anything to bash about it. On the other hand, yeah I thought the 80's sucked...big time...I can't stand the sound of 80's pop...synths and all that shit.
To me it all sounds so rinky dink. My big argument is, at least in the 70's (even with disco) they played the damn instruments and rather well too. It seemed to me that it was in the 80's things began to become more "manufactured" sounding...and music videos were just commercials to sell more "product."
Here's some bands I remember hearing a lot of in the 80's:
The Psychedelic Furs
The Fixx
Simple Minds
Billy Idol
U2
The The
Duran Duran
Smash Palace
and there's some others too...now to me when that David & David record came out it was like an oasis in the midst of this desert. I mean U2 is still alright I guess, but the other stuff is annoying as all hell. I don't listen much...ok hardly ever...to David & David these days because although they were very creative with the sound of that record and the songs are really great songs...the 80's wank is present. I just don't dig it.
70's records all seem to sound warm and inviting and the 80's stuff well...it's pretty damn chilly.
So yeah, for me at least the 80's blew. Yuck!
