My point is, give these people their day in court, convict them properly so their sentence will be properly carried out. Quit cutting corners. I see this all the time and stand by and watch asshole after asshole not even charged because of fundamental mistakes, mainly out of laziness or stupidity.

The Law is kind of like Ballet.  There are certain rules and traditions in the way the dance is performed and although one can be creative in the interpretation of Law, once the curtain goes up, you do it just as it was rehearsed. 

One of my big issues with this current administration is that they were all out there prancing about just like in rehearsal and suddenly, 9.11 occurrs and they start improvising.  So now, I've got the Detention Camp Slide and the Enemy Combatant Boogie mixed in with my Swan Lake and it's fucking up the entire performance. 

The fundemental mistake is sloppyness and ignorance of due process almost ALWAYS ends up screwing the victim in the long run.  In my world, if I don't do my job by protocol, the people I'm trying to protect will end up without services.  For example, if a sexual perp I'm working with shows continued signs in my facility of sexual acting out, and I try to nail him by cooking my reports, my reports will be thrown out in court and the perp walks....right back into your neighborhood.  This is what we're seeing with these thugs running our country like an episode of NYPD Blue.  In trying to be a hard ass, you end up providing an initial scare to the perp but the perp WALKS in the end.
