After the post that listed someone's least favorite bands, I felt compelled to write about how BNL's radio hits are not representative of their entire catalog. I wrote this big ol thing and then the power went out and I never finished it.
Anyhoo...I found this from Ed Robertson on the BNL site which was written this week that speaks more loudly than anything I could have written.
Enjoy,

"It seems people will never let go of their suspicion of us. Perhaps we provoke the issue with goofy songs like “Another Postcard”, but what is the alternative? To NOT do what we think is fun, so that people don’t write us off. Do it, but hide it on the record or as a B-Side? It bugs me that a funny first single seems to have allowed people to write off the record as a whole. Humour is a big part of who we are, but it’s only part of the story. I realize I’m preaching to the choir here, but I thought you might like to know what I’m thinking. Luckily, we have the shows. We get on stage nightly, and have these remarkable experiences where we feel like the greatest band on the earth. The crowd is with us, the music is great, the energy is fantastic… it’s magical. I guess we’re lucky to have that to fall back on, as many bands don’t. I really hope things turn around for this record though, because I think it’s great. It’s hard to see something you care about criticized, or worse… ignored. None of us make music for Fame or critical praise, but I’m getting tired of being the Rodney Dangerfields of Rock and Roll. Barenaked Ladies get no respect! " -From Ed Robertson's Blog on tthe barenaked ladies site
