Well, their first 20 choices were so predictable, and I do love a lot of those recordings. Still..where is the need for these types of "lists". In this case, Rolling Stone ( now the conservative corporate entity that it is), is just wanting to sell copies...and it will.
Y'know...I'm amazed really. I do remember a time when Rolling Stone was very progressive, nearly underground (here I go again..I know...yes, it was a LONG time ago, when I was a teenager), but a lot of their articles then took "chances", they had classifieds that even included great places to travel for hash smokers etc...very politically charged topics that were clearly anti-establishment. Now..they are this lame dick rag, that I think fits in rank and file with Time, Newsweek, Life, Cosmo, and all the other lame dick publications flooding the newstands. Truly unimpressive. They are sooo careful now, trying not to "offend" anybody, including the musicians they write about, and whom they always have the nicest things to say...especially if that musician/artist makes a lot of money.
