Thanks for your thoughts and let me elaborate a bit. I'm not concerned with what the conservatives think as much as what those in the center who have yet to make up their minds think. Politically, 1/3 of voters are pretty much committed to the Republicans and 1/3 are pretty much committed to the Democrats. It's that 1/3 in the middle that both sides are fighting for. My concern is that this undecided group is swayed for the wrong reasons (not because of the substance of an issue but because they are, on some level, repulsed/put-off, etc. by the cartoonish dress and behavior of some of the protestors. A few decades ago, we had many protests due to the Seabrook Nuclear Power Point here in NH. Inevitably, the news reports would show the same old hippie-attired protestors, chanting the same old 60's era songs. I couldn't help but think that the Seabrook proponents were chuckling at the display (and yes, the plant is operating). I guess it comes down to marketing, selling your views to middle America, and I wonder if different tactics (including how one presents oneself) might provide more favorable results.
