On the Fire Agent front, I must confess that the discussion here has been, er, limited. Come on people, let's get cracking! Who is your favorite character and why? What passages bowled you over? Favorite similes? I'd like to ask DB how the hell he conceived of so many gems! And what are the reviews from Germany and Japan? How much did DB's father's book, The Purge of Japanese Leaders Under The Occupation, play a role in his motivation or research? I constantly found parallels to the present: fertilizer shortages and famines, technologies used in dangerously unexpected ways, fascist movements on the rise, and the distrust of expertise, to name but a few. And when is DB coming to Boston/Cambridge? 

On the movie front: I really enjoyed the WWll D-Day drama, Pressure. See it on the big screen while you still can.

I really loathed the new Spielberg film, Disclosure Day, no need to see it on any screen!
