We just watched the first episode. Seems the revolution was less about ideals and democracy and more about land grabs, personal wealth, and expansion into the Ohio River Valley. You can see the seeds of the American character already germinating. As DH Lawrence said, “The essential American soul is hard, isolate, stoic, and a killer. It has never yet melted.”
