HBO's The Pitt is such an intelligent, educational, and thoroughly humane roller coaster of a show! I honestly believe that the viewer can emerge more thoughtful and inspired for having viewed it. It displays human competence, cooperation and compassion operating at the highest levels. And I know, it's television, but the writing and acting are so thoughtful and compelling, and Noah Wyle is brilliant as the fearless field general in charge of the ER. The Pitt portrays America at its best. And yet I think of the hospitals that are preparing to shut down thanks to Trump. And the medicaid and scientific research cuts, all to keep his billionaire donors happy and continually opening the wallet for the GOP, and the deaths and suffering which will inevitably occur. I know we all shake our heads and sometimes our fists at each daily outrage. I work with autistic children and am sickened by the pseudoscience on display these last few days. We are not a serious people, especially the one-third who would sacrifice our children owing to their blind devotion to this ignorant, impulsive, grievance-laden, and deranged man-child.
