Under bare Ben Bulben's head
In Drumcliff churchyard Yeats is laid,
An ancestor was rector there
Long years ago; a church stands near,
By the road an ancient Cross.
No marble, no conventional phrase,
On limestone quarried near the spot
By his command these words are cut:
Cast a cold eye
On life, on death.
Horseman, pass by!
--[from Under Bel Bulben]--
I visited Yeats' grave 25 or so years back. Making another trip around that way this September. Not sure if the beauty of Ben Bulben is on the itinerary. And I did enjoy that track. Is it ok to call the Waterboys and Mike Scott in particular under rated? Definitely unfairly pigeonholed as an 80s only band.
