Yes, you knew it would happen, that this day would come. We are going to get into Russian films, because...well...we are now ruled by a bunch of guys that get their marching orders from Vladimir Putin. So, in order to make sure we have a good understanding of our pal Vlad, we're going to start watching some of the movies that he really loves. 

Let's start with one of his favorites and a film that was shown to every cosmonaut they shot into space. No, it is not some science fiction epic, go check out Tarkovsky's Solaris or Stalker for that, this one is basically the Russian version of a western. Sort of like Sergio Leone made a film in Russian set in the desert. 

It's called The White Sun of the Desert and it will fill you with the spirt of Glasnost. Enjoy comrades! That's an order.
