I see what you mean. Yes the average person might not realize the total cost they are paying for a long-term loan. Also good point about the possibility of a reduction in value over time, especially if the neighborhood is/becomes bad or repair costs are high.
And yes, if you have $100,000 cash on hand, that's the best way to pay for a home. :) No
interest goes to the bank!
