Icon Bridging generation gaps

Last night I went to see Social Distortion play in Milwaukee. Totally kick-ass performance in a hot and steamy venue. For those of you not familiar with Mike Ness and the boys, the hard rocking band has been around for 24 years, but hasn't put out any new material since 1996. The show was remarkable for a number of reasons, but one thing in particular struck me. There was so much variety in the age of the fans. In addition to the expected gray beards, there were a ton of teenagers - and everyone was singing along. Mike emphasized the point by getting the youngest fan in the house up on stage (an 11 year old girl!) and encouraging everyone to keep bridging the gap.

I bring this up because of how important I believe it is for NFU to do the same thing. I've been to a few of the shows, and many of the fans are thinning a little on the dome. As the new album comes out, we should all try to get it into new hands and ears. There are several songwriters that have become quite popular with the younger demographic, so I believe it can be done.
