With the lack of advertising material from Lost Highway at the Attic in Boston and the post from Jeff Bond about the poorly attended Raleigh show, is it possible that Lost Highway is not supporting David Baerwald enough? I signed up at the Lost Highway site about 2 weeks ago for their "Highway Street Team" based on this invite on their site: "Our goal is to reach out to educate everyone possible about our artists. We'll spread the good word at a grass-roots level, targeting concerts, lifestyle locations (vintage clothing stores, clubs, indie/modern rock bars, coffee bars, used bookstores, funky art galleries, etc.) and anywhere it makes sense for our artists. Join the team to be the flag-bearer for the Lost Highway artists."
I have not even received an e-mail response from Lost Highway. I'd be more than happy to bring flyers to local CD shops to promote the upcoming Boston show, but they have got to give me something to work with. Based on the post from someone who works at the Attic (where David is playing 6/13), they have received NO promotional material from Lost Highway. I certainly don't claim to know what is going on behind the scenes at Lost Highway, but is seems that a very basic element of promoting artists is advertising for upcoming shows. The local radio station who would play David Baerwald (92.5 WXRV) has not received any promotional material ,so they say. Can anyone comment on any advertising they have seen for upcoming shows or even for the new CD?
Does it make sense to tour before radio even has music to play? The hardcore fans have "A Fine Mess" to listen to. What about the potential new fans? I'm just an outsider looking in, but it would make sense to play new music to potential fans BEFORE concerts are played. No one is happier than me about getting a chance to see David play live. I just hope this tour and new CD make it worthwhile for David to continue to record and bring live music to the public.
Here's to the Attic show in Boston just four days away!
