>I know Blockdog mentioned some sort of "Street >team". What is that exactly?
If you go to Lost Highway's site you will see a link that says "Join the Lost Highway Street Team"
http://www.losthighwayrecords.com
Basically it means that they will use you as promotional tool.
It's a "grass roots" method by which smaller labels are taking advantage of the powerful "word of mouth" tools.
You would be asked to hang posters for shows in your area, make press contacts, get the word out as best you can.....etc.
Being a volunteer position they generally ask that you do as much or as little as you can manage.
For example, I am a "street rep" for another label, they recently asked me to sell merchandise for a show that required me to drive 130 miles one way. I gladly took the job and was in turn paid with a cd and a T-shirt. Wooo Hooo!
I was happy to do it.
I promote music on a daily basis anyway so I figured I might as well be somewhat "official"
part of the time.
My guess is if they suddenly get a slew of applicants they will weed them out try to pick a few of the folks who seem to be interested in devoting some serious efforts to the cause.
All we have to do now is to get David on the Down From The Mountain soundtrack. :^)
