Best wishes, David,
Austin is a great place, and FULL of great musicians and singers, so you will probably be overwhelmed with people who want to be the "2/5ths". I used to live in Houston, and just loved to get away to Austin for it's quaintness and excellent music environment, though it is a large city now, and getting plagued with a lot of the city problems, people used to go there to escape.
If any of the musicians from the now sadly disbanded group Storyville, are still hanging around town...give those boys a call!! Especially Chris Layton (drums), Tommy Shannon (bass)..both from Stevie Ray's Band (Double Trouble), and David Grissom (great guitarist, vocalist, songwriter).
Enjoy the Lone Star State, be sure to drink some cold Lone Star beer, and...be careful when you drive, not to run over any little Armadillos (you can still see them scurrying around in the woods every once in a while...one of the oldest animals on the planet, and VERY cute).
Peace,
Gene
