Yes, the pilgrims were giving thanks for escape from religious and political oppression in Europe and for the opportunity to turn around and oppress others in the future! What a neat holiday! And we have July 4th to celebrate our rebellion, Memorial Day to remember all the dead people, Veterans Day to reflect upon war and a few others that are really cool. In particular, I enjoy Labor Day. It's a day that we take off to celebrate Work.
(Yes, I'm oversimplifying here, but that's just the kind of guy I am.)
Me, I shall eat, drink beer and be as a child. I wish everyone (even Europeans) a good week.
