: Hi David,
: I'm curious to know if Bill discussed at all his work on Eltons' new album? If none of you have heard it, it is probably the best collection of songs Elton and Bernie have put together in over a decade. The stripped down production and finally being able to hear Eltons' piano playing opposed to layers of synths, and strings. If Bill had anything whatever to do with the album besides his listed credit as "mixed by" could you find a way to relay that info back to us here on the board.
: Thanks a lot

Hey Kyle,
As far as I know, the overall direction sonically of a more "classic '70's" approach to the record was decided from the very beginning
by Pat Leonard, Elton John and Bernie Taupin.
Bill just kind of mixed it, something I was fortunate enough to have watched him do off and on through the project. It's always great to watch him behind a mix console. It's like watching a great pilot at work, or a great sailor.
Also, Pat told me that the way they came up with the tracks was by Taupin bringing in a huge notebook filled with poems and John banging them into music, at the rate of four a day!
