I have a ritual every morning when I get to work. I check my messages, call my clients and log on to my station at Sonicnet. Yesterday, to my horror, my quiet morning ritual was shattered by silence as Sonicnet has discontinued their radio programming. It is now covered by other stations but the build your own feature is gone. They sited strategic and logistical reasons and I always knew it was too good to last. But, I'm saddened as I have to now search the net for the correct genre in order to fulfill my needs while at the office.
(Ok, so I'm reaching for something to write about here. But I don't know enough about foriegn policy, I'm out of DB questions and I'm feeling petulant today so...)
In my station, I had everything from Chet Atkins to Zappa, Jazz, jam bands, joke bands and hardcore/punk. I can think of many times co-workers stopped by my desk and asked, "What the hell are you listening to?" and then shown up after lunch with a copy of the CD. Sure, I can flip stations, but the ability to cross genres within a set is a wonderful thing.
Well, I guess I'll go get in the box now. If anyone knows of internet stations with true diversity, let me know.
With too much time on his hands today,
