I've enjoyed the lively debate in here as well,but being Canadian I'll admit to being a little lost at times. Theres another underappreciated David I've come to enjoy. David Gray is an English singer/songwriter who's style is not entirely dissimilar to DB's.Introspective,personal lyrics and respectable musicianship on his latest CD titled "White Ladder" are definitely worth a listen.
If David happens to read this post,I'm curious to know his thoughts on the difference between Sheryl's version of "Run Baby Run" and the first verse of "If I Ever Thought". Which is the lyric you feel tells the story more effectively? Also how do you approach vocal overdubs? Do you do many takes to get the right track or do you "nail it" the first or second take?
