Icon Something bizarre is going on in the media; when working the ref backfires...

Because I no longer watch cable news often, and because so many academic media watchdog groups seemed to have wilted away (like Content, the Columbia Journalism Review, Washington Journalism Review, and others), I no longer seem to come across results from those that study bias in the media, but something is going on. I could be wrong, but still, there is something strange going on in the political media, especially among CNN and network news (I don't include FAUXNews because I do not consider that to be a "news" organization and instead an arm of Republican propaganda).

Example after example leaks out almost daily.  For example, of those that received the vetting material on JD Vance, none of them reported the content, whereas, we have had years of  Hunter Biden laptop crap and even Biden's daughter's diary leaked out all over. Then, the DNC's emails several years ago.  But not one leak from the Vance shit.

And how many times have others seen any legitimate pushback upon MAGA mouthpieces that appear and make hypocritical comments left and right and non-stop? For example, how many times has anyone seen a repeater ask a MAGA moron that brings up Harris' consensual sexual background, "And what did you ever say about Donald Trump's predatory background or non-consensual abuses?"

Then, a while back, I saw a meme that listed the top news executives and owners and something like eight or nine of the top ten were MAGA/Republican donors.  And I think this is a reflection of how the news media is responding to Democrats and it is not good and it is biased.  I mean, how can news organizations keep inviting the same political pundits or operatives on their programs that do nothing other than lie and no one says anything?  Think of it for a moment - think of all the reporters over the years who have been caught telling lies of their own and what happens to them right on the spot?  They are booted and exiled.  Especially for plagiarism.  Which to me, is a form of lying. But they continue to invite these same people back over and over again in a sick way to appear unbiased and hardly anyone of importance calls them out for it.

On top of that, I just saw a clip of CNN's Abby Phillip and a round table where she was doing everything she could to stick a knife in Harris's back in such a way that it was obvious it was a horrible attempt to show CNN is "fair."  It was about how Harris just commented on wanting to do something about price gouging and she kept needling the Harris supporters to admit Harris was committing an act of "pandering" to voters.

And this was odd to me because the Harris supporters DID admit it was pandering (but they blew this one because they failed to bring up things like the cost of Insulin and how after 9/11, oil and gas owners "gouged" the American people. It was kind of shocking that the entire panel seemed to believe it is a horrible thing for our governments to protect consumers from this predatory behavior).

Not only these obvious biases but then we get to both Jake Tapper and Dana Bash and how "working the ref" can work, but can also backfire.  Both of these two did a horrible job moderating the CNN debate not because they didn't fact-check every lie Trump told, but instead, because they NEVER asked a follow-up question to the lies that he did make. And I think THAT is what pissed people off a great deal.  As I've stated before, how could a woman NOT ask Trump to provide ONE instance of where a baby was aborted AFTER birth??  Bash failed to do this. Then, there was the dismissive way Tapper kept pointing out to Biden how he had more time to talk while nastily asking him if he wanted to go on.  I can't remember how many times Tapper did this and his attitude was clear as a bell.

Now, here is where "working the ref" backfires - I think it has been clear that all the criticism those two repeaters received backfired big time on Democrats because in recent times, of the Internet news sites I have frequented since that debate, the left-leaning sites have pointed out more failings on the questions these two have asked guests, political people and especially Democrats, on their shows, and through the omissions of questions to Republicans, it has also been evident of something going on.  I don't know if editors are whispering in their ears what to ask, but it is clear that Republicans are not facing the same scrutiny or forcefulness as Democrats.

It is almost like there is a wide practice of collusion between these people going on and to me, it is so obvious, it makes me want to puke daily.

in the questions they don't ask Republicans and especially Vance and Trump.  (
