I finally got around to reading Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. I had come across many of his insightful quotes on various sites, but never touched a complete book. As I expected, there's a lot of time-tested wisdom concerning what constitutes a good life, how one should comport oneself, and how to stoically face our inevitable demise.
The book begins with a long list of the people he is grateful for and the instruction that they so kindly provided. This surprised and pleased me. I don't believe we reflect on and acknowledge gratitude nearly enough. Raise a toast to the wise and caring family members, teachers, and friends who made positive contributions, and resolve to do the same for others! And some of them have passed through, and continue to frequent this site.
