One of my favorite artists ever. His muse was never less than restless. I didn't much care for his penultimate release, Rhythm & Blues, but his latest album, Drive, was a really pleasant surprise. I'm shocked by this news.

It's a terrible shame that most people's knowledge of Palmer begins and ends with his 85-90 Top 40 output...his work reflects a deep affinity for a truly dizzying array of genres.
