Andi, you are down in Georgia, a critical state, working for the Democrats, if there is going to be a sudden change of horses, I would think they would let people like you, on the frontlines, know in advance.
If they are going to pivot, we, people like you specifically, need a heads up.
Up until just the last few days, I was certain, absolutely certain Biden would win an election against Trump. I was shaken by the debate, who wasn't, but my thought was, it could be overcome, basically by just giving Biden more public interaction time to show he was alright.
I did not expect Democrats, names like Carville and Clooney etc., to suddenly bolt for the exits and for news networks that were not FOX to bury hatchets in Joe's back.
Honestly, I thought there would be a rallying of the troops, not everybody running, screaming, with their hair on fire in different directions.
My reaction to that was "What the fuck are you people doing?"
Carville and Clooney, they saw the SCOTUS ruling on immunity, they know what is at stake. So did everybody on CNN and MSNBC...but they all dropped the lifeboats and left. Now that is on TV all day. Carville is saying without a doubt, Joe is getting out. Carville is much better connected to the party than I am. I don't see him trying to submarine a Democrat, but wow, he has opened up both barrels on Joe and is reloading to open fire again.
It never matters what FOX says, they preach nonsense to an empty-headed choir, but CNN and MSNBC are talking to people that are would be Biden voters...and they are destroying him, raising every doubt they can, and pretty much demanding that he goes...that's worse than Russian bots doing it.
It's a really bad spot for the Democrats.
Yeah, it sucks, because I've read that Biden is the third most effective and successful president in the history of our country due to all his administration has accomplished in his first term...and continues to accomplish. So, yes, he has earned the backing of the people but the people are hearing nothing about that and everything about Joe's health and if he is capable.
I think Biden probably should have stuck to his plan, do one term and hand off to a younger Democrat. Had they stuck to that plan, I think Democrats would be coasting to a huge victory.
I think because they looked at how Harris polls, she does worse against Trump than Biden...well...they kept Biden around, he beat Trump the first time, should beat an even weaker Trump in 2024.
Sadly, what we have now is a full court press to remove Biden which is making Trump's numbers rise. Yes, the debate started it, but this on-air panic has made it way worse.
It does make me angry this has happened, particularly because when the Supreme Court made their ruling on immunity, I knew we had just been handed a ticking bomb, not really with a question of if it goes off, but when. If Trump is elected, it goes off really soon, if Biden or Harris gets elected, well, we have 4 years to work on it but still, need to be able to replace a couple justices at minimum.
