I definitely got the Star Wars reference! As far as vaccines with him, watch what he's done, not what he's saying to congress or anyone else right now about vaccines. He has done much harm but we can agree to disagree on that.
As far as trump goes, I think people on his campaign may realize that he may not be doing so well, but trump will never admit that to himself. His narcissism won't let him do that. I'm sure there are republicans that see that he's falling apart and has nothing for this country but republicans around here, for the most part and in many other parts of the red south, won't care. They won't vote for a Kennedy no matter how much trump pushes him and they won't vote for a Democrat if it's the last thing they do. The goal is to "own the libs" and "stick it to the libs" so they'll vote for him just to do that. I highly doubt they'll even just stay home. I could be wrong. I really hope I am.
Some positive signs I've seen though. I've been driving through northwest Georgia some during the last few months...you know Marge Taylor Greene territory. I've seen very few trump signs or flags which is quite different from the years from 2015-2021. I've seen one flag in each of two counties, one rural Gordon County and one in a rural part of Paulding County just yesterday. For the first time ever, I have to I got sick to my stomach when I approached a house to see a child because out front there was a Let's Go Brandon sign and when I drove into the driveway I saw a Confederate flag flying high and proud. No US flag just a confederate flag. If I wasn't the only person who did feeding therapy with severely involved infants/toddlers I would have turned around and said someone else needed to see this family. Alas, one of the drawbacks to being known as the district's "feeding guru". lol
Oh! One more positive story! Yesterday, we had a Dining with Dems event in South Paulding County which is a pretty red area. We had a great turnout with about 20 people. Of course, we WERE relegated to the patio where it was a tad warm, but it was all good. We had several local candidates speak. We even had a Republican candidate for Sheriff speak to us. There are 2 republican candidates and whoever wins primary will be Sheriff. I don't want this guy to win because he's up the butt of the current sheriff who is involved with the Constitutional Sheriff crap and I'm afraid this guy will be too, but I digress. ANYWAY, I had on my Paulding Dems shirt because I no longer give a fuck who sees me and knows I'm a democrat. I was walking out the door as someone was walking in and the woman patted me on the back and said "Oh good! You're a Democrat!" At a Mexican restaurant in red Paulding County! That is really exciting!!!
