Icon On a lighter note - Song Appreciation Day - Nothing's Going to Bring Me Down....

Back around 2016, after some less-than-stellar health numbers came in, for exercise, I really got into walking and listening to music on the walks.  The walks influenced a deeper appreciation for these collections of sounds and ushered in this more devoted way to more deeply listen to how these sounds are arranged and what sounds are present in songs (of course, when it comes to this, often I wish I were even more of a sound connoisseur and was more aware of all the intricacies that go into the production of music).

Anyway, one thing I have noticed is the impact of sound upon my own brain and body - especially when it comes to certain songs. Some do release uplifting chemicals throughout my body and mind and some do create a "high-like" euphoria and I greatly wish this experience with walking and sound had started 20 years earlier.

Then, there are the other songs that influence certain aspects on these walks and one of them is when a song provides that extra "umphf" on days when the desire to push on wanes a bit.  Then, some song will come up on the high-end digital player that provides that extra push, and one of those songs is Nothing's Going To Bring Me Down.  I have about 3500 songs on my Favorites playlist and this song is among them and I can't express the number of times on these walks of over 8 years now, how that song has come up on the player during one of those times when one foot in front of the others grows difficult.

There are others, but in trying to offer some respite from the heat here, there are just not too many other things that can force open the doors and let the sunshine pour in than that of a great song that has a great impact upon us and especially if  we let it in.
