When it comes to the definition of insurrection, what really gets me pissed is how so many seem to want to describe it in a way that it must include an overwhelming amount of violence to be an "insurrection." And the reason it pisses me off is because if one is honest, a true insurrection of America is not going to involve a large amount of violence. That sort of insurrection will be quickly shut down by government entities, including the military.
In fact, we are already seeing aspects of what type of insurrection will succeed in the US - it is things like politicians and appointees making claims they will not certify elections even when there is overwhelming evidence voter fraud did not take place. It is politicians and appointees disregarding US Supreme Ct rulings unless they like them. It is gerrymandering and restricting voting.
Or things like a sitting US Supreme Court judge sitting on a case where his wife actively tried to stop the will of voters regarding an election and refusing to excuse himself.
We are not going to see a bunch of idiots and radicals dressed in tactical gear physically causing an insurrection by force. But what we will see is what happened on Jan 6, but in a much more effective manner. As others have stated, Jan 6 was a test run (and I don't mean necessarily for just the MAGA types - Jan 6 was the blueprint for anyone seeking to gain power in the US - sadly, the MAGA types have a head start).
Throw this fact in, too - more votes for Democrats have been cast than for Republicans for some time now, but look at the makeup of Congress - both are almost 50/50.
Another form is how economists have pointed out for years, that the US economy performs better under Democratic presidents but for some reason (which I know what it is and that is, they know if a Republican is president, their chances to get an even bigger piece of the economic pie is greater than under a Democrat), many of the biggest business companies and people push for Republicans.
So, when I hear these fucking Republican assholes/MAGA give their "definition" of an "insurrection," these sorts of things are foremost in their minds and what they want. They don't want a silent insurrection that is already happening to be focused on and instead want that massive need for violence.
And I can't figure out why those in the media don't focus on this aspect of an insurrection more than they do.
Am I the only one that feels this way?
