SCOTUS now, in many ways, holds the fate of the world in their tiny little hands. Rendering a decision that our president is Caligula, would be an epic tragedy for the world. I think our European brothers are in an extremely precarious position with Putin waging his war if Trump came back into power with the full intent of destroying NATO, Putin's dream. Those nations that make up the EU depend upon unity to remain prosperous and protected. Trump's intent is to shatter that.

Jonathan Turley just wrote a piece for USA Today that popped up on my news feed yesterday. It basically said, we are all hysterical, democracy is not at risk, our institutions are going to protect us, Trump can't destroy the country. I obviously thought, Trump's lawyers just made the argument in a federal court, one step from the Supreme Court, that the US president is Caligula and can proceed accordingly. We have severe corruption on the Supreme Court, three really questionable judges appointed by Trump, the abomination that is Clarence Thomas, and that is the single thread that is holding us in place.

Of course, if the Supreme Court rules that the US president is Caligula, well, Biden is the current Caligula...he can then, with absolute immunity, start ordering the deaths of Trump and every dimwitted MAGA politician.

Of course, we know he won't do that, but that will amp up Trump and his MAGA goon squad to do all they can to steal the 2024 election because winning it does not just mean winning the presidency...it will then mean winning absolute power over everybody. Every single one of these MAGA creeps in office would be able to wield the president's newfound power to kill his political rivals at will...all sanctioned and pardoned by Trump were he to hold the office again.

This is why that argument his lawyers made was so shocking. It had to have absolutely thrilled the sickos in MAGA land for what it means for them. The rush of power only for fealty to Trump.

Turley, I would say, believes we can count on John Roberts not to let this happen. There are several justices on that court that make me feel really uncomfortable that they are deciding this. I want to feel confident they would never rule the president has absolute immunity...but so much power now rests on that decision.

We may have to wait a bit to hear that decision, it really should be an emergency ruling because the argument threatens the safety of every person in the country...and really the world.

In the meantime, we are about to hear from Republican voters. Iowa and New Hampshire will soon begin casting votes. Real votes, not the polling the media keeps throwing at us that claims Trump is so far out in front his Republican rivals can't catch him. It looks very possible that Nikki Haley is actually right on his heels and will beat him in NH. This could, and I know it is never wise to rely on Republicans, shift the loyalties of many Republicans to Haley. If Trump loses these wo states or it is close in Iowa and he loses NH, then all the bluster about how there is no chance for anybody to catch him will be shown to be a lie. Haley would be the real frontrunner, and that could be huge.
