Slack, that WAS attempted not too long ago.  I agree with you...I loved it, but very few folks used it, so I think it's been scrapped.  Maybe as things get "upgraded" we can have it again.  Up to Dan, Pat...I think it got the "thumbs down" vote though, and I don't recall all of the details of why.
