I think, EEE, that you and I, and a hell of a lot of other Americans have been naive as to the "values" of many of our fellow citizens. And yes, it says so much more about our neighbors, friends, and family than it does of Trump. The self-proclaimed  "values" voters have values that we find reprehensible, and they aren't going away any time soon. Additionally, I think we can't overstate the role that inflation and the border have played. Yes, inflation is worldwide, and yes, it's been far lower here than in many, many other nations, and yes, it's falling, but the difference in prices under Trump and now under Biden, serve as stinging, visceral weekly reminders of the rise, and the fact that inflation is falling doesn't matter a whit to these folks. Even with rising wages, "real" purchasing power has diminished.  It's certainly not all on Biden but the buck, or several inflated bucks, stop with him.  The border has been a horror show for Biden. Nothing triggers people like images of foreigners entering the country with few barriers to entry. People need a sense of order and security.  And honestly, I think he could have done more. Even though the wall is often easy to circumvent, I would have happily had Biden build more walls, as that would have demonstrated that he cared, and so what if we waste billions, democracy is on the line if he loses, and I truly fear that he will. In the wake of elevated crime in certain cities, he should also endlessly trumpet that he's going to put thousands more cops on the street.  Triangulate dammit!
