Icon Pence, language, the importance of a comma....

Here is one just emerging and it shows the importance of the placement of a comma.

In his book, Mike Pence had the following sentence:

"You know, I don't think I have the authority to change the outcome."

He has told Jack Smith that the actual sentence and meaning of the sentence is this:

"You know I don't think I have the authority to change the outcome," suggesting Trump was well aware of the limitations of Pence's authority days before Jan. 6 -- a line Smith includes in his indictment."

Now, while that might seem like a minor omission, ponder it for a bit and the importance of the meaning of that sentence without the comma suddenly grows into a big deal.  In other words, Pence KNEW Trump KNEW Pence did not have that authority and it was not a surmising question of him not thinking he had the authority to change the outcome.

There really is a butt-full of intent in that actual sentence.
