Icon From reading that description - novel Five Decembers by James Kestrel

After reading that blurb by Graham Yost, maybe, just maybe, we might see some tremendous word of mouth and praise for DB's book.  His comment also made me think back to one of the best novels (crime) I've read in some time - James Kestrel's Five Decembers.

Even though DB's book is non-fiction, Yost's description sort of even describes this novel.  Sadly, for reasons that escaped me, Kestrel's novel, while receiving a lot of fellow writers' critical praise, did not become the blockbuster it deserved to be.

And don't let the Hard Case Crime publishing house dissuade you into thinking this is just another pulp novel.  Give it a try.

And check out Tim O'Brien's America Fantastica - the writing in his new novel is so wonderful.  It is sort of like a blending of A Confederacy of Dunces, The Bonfire of the Vanities, with a mild inclusion of Hunter Thompson thrown in.
