I don't know how many people here are/were Rolling Stones fans but their new album is out and I plan on picking it up. I've heard three songs from it and the big thing that struck me was Mick Jagger sounds like he was dropped in a time machine and sent back to the 1970s. He is in the best voice I have heard from him in decades. How is this possible? Is it a studio trick? Is it some sort of AI enhancement?
I've long been a fan of the Stones, but the last time I saw them live was on the Steel Wheels tour. That was in October of 1989 at Foxborough Stadium. I decided after seeing them it would be my last time unless I caught them in a much smaller indoor venue. I also thought, way back then, I sensed a decline in the band. I also always felt like the music they made was bar band music. Music to be seen and heard in a bar, not really in a giant football stadium. Love their work but would rather hear it indoors.
Now, I've heard plenty of live Stones over the years and to me Jagger has been on the decline...until now. He sounds incredible right now and I can't figure it out. The guy is in his 80s and had heart surgery not too long ago. How the hell does he sound this good? Any theories? I basically can't believe my ears.
What is going on? Keith kind of looks like zombie Keith, but Mick, wow! How is this even possible?
