At the time of this post (1030 a.m. CDT, Tue, Oct 3, 2023), from my understanding, Matt Gaetz and the MAGA crowd in the US House is one vote away from having the necessary Republican votes to oust Kevin McCarthy as House Speaker.  This does not take into account any Dem who is willing to cross party lines and vote for McCarthy as Speaker. 

Based on historical observations of the behavior of Washington Democrats, my prediction is that Democratic Representatives will save McCarthy's ass and toss the required votes to prevent it from being chapped by the fires of the wacko MAGAs will happen.  I hope I am wrong, but par for the Democratic past behavior, it will not surprise me if Dems chose to go with the "devil we know" concept, rather than let these nuts oust him and then run even more wild in the House. 

I mean, I have never seen a political party so willingly throw lifelines to the opposition party, rather than let it sink, and at the least, throw them a lifeline much too early.

The Dems need to let Gaetz oust McCarthy so that the rest of the country can see an unfettered and untethered MAGA group really run rampant.  I mean, can others just imagine how Greene and Boebert will react when they believe the real restraints are now gone?

So, what are the predictions of others?
