When I read of Robertson's passing, I made a cynical remark about how it seemed the only time a rock and roller was mentioned by Rolling Stone anymore was when one passed away.
Then, I got to thinking about how with its current incarnation, many of the staffers at Rolling Stone most likely had no idea who this man was or what he had accomplished.
I mean, think of it - you have this magazine and organization - purported to be the bible of rock and roll, and from what RS now covers, many of the staffers probably had no idea that this man and The Band are responsible for one of the most well-known songs in rock history. Imagine, receiving a text or call that Robbie Robertson has passed and many of the recipients uttered, "Who?".......
