Icon Let me bounce this one around - Osama's continued "gift" to America

Now, bear with me on this a bit - We all know that Americans have a lousy perception of time, history, and attention span.  When the US invaded Afghanistan, a common comment by Afghans and the Taliban was along the lines of it is not if Americans leave, but only when.  Also, in one of Thomas Friedman's books on the middle east, he pointed out that when it came to disputes in the ME, disputes were more than generational and went on for decades and even hundreds of years and how allies sometimes included factions/tribes/families where one could be an ally of an enemy when both had a common enemy. My point in this is, I believe others outside of America have a better concept of time, history, and attention span, and what if the planners of 9/11 had a much broader concept of their attack and saw things more in the way of methods of not only destroying an enemy from within but also in a more time wise long term way. So, what I'm asking is, thoughts on if possibly others with a much different perspective of time, history, and attention span, somewhat predicted a possible outcome of 9/11 to be that of the emergence of a "Trumpian" type American leader and what we have going on right now in this country with Republican politicians and their hard-core followers.  That, is it possible, that others outside of America, with a much deeper understanding of history and a different concept of history and time, believed that we could be guided to where we are now if some acts like 9/11 would be carried out on American soil.  Personally, I truly believe that we Americans have a horrible concept of the passage of time and a bare minimum knowledge of history and are quite myopic to the perspectives of those outside our borders.  Thoughts?
