When it comes to this current practice of retrograde censorship within the arts I am very surprised at the lack of comment and it is especially troubling when the biggest names in the arts remain silent.  

The movie website World of Reel is reporting that Criterion has censored language it deems offensive from the movie The French Connection for a celebratory DVD release. Here is the link:

What is both disturbing and disappointing to me is how few of those in the arts are commenting on this at all and especially all the biggest of names.  This is going on all across the board - from writing to the visual mediums and music. 

So when are the big names going to step in and put a stop to this?  Such a spineless crowd it seems.
