Like many others, I really wanted to see this go to trial and hoped for an even more massive punitive award on top of the 1.6 billion, but after seeing one news report about the value of Dominion, I now understand why they chose to settle.

Dominion was valued at between 10 and 30 million dollars, so I imagine one might have asked how could a company valued at that amount be damaged to the tune of 1.6 billion.  So I think it is easy to imagine that they might have felt receiving that amount along with punitive damages might have been too risky of a roll of the dice (imagine if they had gone to trial and the 1.6 billion and punitive damages ended up being only 50 million or even 100 million.  Fox cronies would have celebrated).

One question I'd like to know is if in the settlement individual Fox liars were made exempt from further Dominion litigation.
