Yep - Benny (The pianist) is just an excellent songwriter who really understands when a song needs simplicity (e,g, The Winner takes it all, The Day before you came) and when it needs production (e.g. S.O.S., Knowing Me, Chiquitita etc). Björn is a fairly good lyricist and they really know how to get the best out of their vocalists...
Although the reign of ABBA was fairly short-lived, if you dig a little deeper you will find that they both alone and together earlier in the 60'ies wrote hits already then. After ABBA they have made two excellent musicals (Chess and "Kristina från Duvemåla".) and Benny has written songs for several other artists (308 different song entries on Allmusic).
