i remember seeing zevon's last guest appearance on letterman, and i really liked it when he said those three words...

last night letterman said some great words about zevon, and then he replayed that brief snippet. letterman asked, given his diagnosis with terminal cancer, what special perspective zevon might have on life and death. and he said simply,

it's made me realize, y'know, enjoy every sandwich.

i love that.

because i wasn't paying attention (either time) to his exact words, i did a quick search and found lots of enjoy every sandwich links. nice.

at the end of the show, letterman replayed zevon's performance of "mutineer". and signed off with, "good night, warren."
