Well, I have to say the meetings with people I went to high school with have been...a strange mixed bag. The three guys that "found me" have promoted this idea that I was missing for 20 some years. Which is ridiculous and has allowed me to be my usual ridiculous self when answering questions about where I was for this period of time. I told one woman I was in the witness protection program, an obvious joke, and she gasped and asked if I was "safe talking about it now" which caused me to just reply "Probably not." because I figured I just should not go any further with that.
It is a strange thing to suddenly be in a room with people that you have not seen in 35 years. I mean, I've just started asking the question "So, how was your life?" because I did not attend any high school reunions and have not seen most of these people since my early 20s. I mean I last saw them in their 20s and now I see them and they are grandparents. Their kids have kids. It is more than a little awkward for me and of course 35 years changes a person a lot in most cases so I often do not recognize these people and they sometimes don't recognize me.
I was out with the guys that had found me in a restaurant in the town we went to high school in and we were sitting at the bar. A couple women come in and sit at a table near us. One of the guys I am with says "Hey, is that ________ that we went to high school with?" and I turn and look and I don't recognize either woman. Of course he gets up and walks to their table and it turns out it is a woman we went to high school with so the women invite us to sit with them. I go over and sit down and I am looking at this woman and my friend says her name and I realize who she is but she has gone the bad Botox route to the extent that her face looks like a Halloween mask and her lips are gigantic. I mean there are giant anacondas that are smaller than her lips. I ended up sitting right next to her and so she has her hand in my lap under the table and is leaning in to me to talk and I am trying/hoping I am not making a face that shows how totally shocked and freaked out I am. She is loving this little "reunion" and starts pounding down martinis and getting sloppy drunk and hardcore flirtatious. I look at my friend Gerry and get up to go to the men's room and he comes in and I say "Listen I can't sit next to this woman, she is out of control and trying to give me a hand job under the table. Let's get the hell out of here."
Of course some guy walked out of a bathroom stall and said "What woman? I'll sit next to her!"
Thankfully, Biden and NATO have done a good job handling this and screwed Putin and Russia with the sanctions. In the end this whole mess could end up being beneficial because Putin ends up killed or removed by his own people. The Russian way is he will never see it coming.
On Biden and Harris, I think they are fine but obviously neither will be a strong candidate in the next presidential election and the Democrats will need to deal with that. I think Harris is smart, she just is not a great politician. Plus as a candidate she is basically a trainwreck and proved that when she ran for president. However, I think she was the was the number one choice for the party and the problem with that is the party never thinks that stuff through and they won't course correct. So, chances are it is either Biden or Harris that runs unless the Democrats and Harris make the smart choice and let someone else run.
I don't think whomever the Democrat is that runs will be running against Trump. I think probably the Republican will be Ron DeSantis and honestly, I can't even fathom how someone could vote for that clown. Basically, the Republican party has sunk so far, I would not give them a vote for president in the next election under any circumstance. They need to earn the trust of Americans and the world back.
Biden has done alright. He is not going to ever do anything earth shaking which is why he was elected.
