Being 57, I simply can't understand the behavior of Trump or his supporters over this entire Russia mess and the continued glorifying of not only Putin, but the lack of fervor of the right when it comes to his invasion. And what adds to this frustration is having a long enough memory to remember the past behavior of the right when it comes to things like this.
One thing I would really love to see would be such a global repudiation of Putin's behavior that truly historic and devastating sanctions could be enacted, but with all the greed in the world, such sanctions probably are impossible. Still, one could only imagine the level of sanctions that could be enacted if the world would only enact them.
Not only this, now we are seeing a tepid response from the right when it comes to the continued enrapture and courting to White supremacy groups by elected Congresspeople.
We have just seen where one Republican just spoke at a White supremacy gathering and just about zilch in comments yet from established Republicans (I did see where Romney has made comments).
Sadly, the only way for a larger number of Americans to be forced to see the horror of this would be to play the "what if" game - for example, can one imagine if Obama had dared speak favorably before the Black Panthers? Holy shit, it would have been doomsday and FauxNews would have been all over it.
What we really need here is something we can't have - a good dose of optimism from a man that has seen much, much more than us - some Heathcliffe. May he rest in peace....
