There are many examples of people who have been crucified over the opposition to Shrub's politics, the battle over terrorism and the war. Bill Maher lost a show over it; Phil Donahue lost a job, countless people have been called traitors and anti-American; countless people have had their views McCarthyized; Max Cleland was drug through the mud (can you imagine how bitter he must now feel over his service in country? I'll say this, if anyone liberal had pulled the same crap with Bob Dole or John McCain I'd be just as disgusted and angry). And of course we now have a new concept in our American lexicon called "Dixie Chicked." Then there is the need for dissent that has been squashed so badly that all the talking heads (or at least most of them) are offering only tepid criticism and only asking the most weak of questions of our government. As for Clinton being impeached for lying under oath, my only complaint on that is he should never have been under oath for Paula Jones' incident. Many legal scholars agreed. She did not have true legal action against him; it should have been against the conservative magazine "The American Spectator" and David Brock. However, the two judges who made such a decision were appointed by hard line conservatives (which leads one to ask, where was the conservative complaint about "judical activism" when this happened?).As for Shrub's lies about the war, people before me have already added to this part of the debate.
